About the Opportunity

BRAC’s Ultra Poor Graduation Initiative (UPGI) is dedicated to scaling up the Graduation approach globally, empowering the world’s poorest to achieve sustainable livelihoods and overcome extreme poverty. We are seeking a qualified national candidate based in Indonesia, to support all aspects of operations and administration processes to deliver the UPGI scale-up strategy. This position requires close collaboration with staff in Jakarta and 6 other provinces in Indonesia, namely West Sumatera, West Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, East Nusa Tenggara, and West Nusa Tenggara.

UPGI is looking for a MEL and Data Assistant to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will assist UPGI’s Senior MEL and Research Analyst for aspects of the project relating to MEL and data management, analysis and reporting.

The Ultra-Poor Graduation Initiative is a global unit within BRAC International that was founded in 2016 to build off the success of BRAC’s Ultra-Poor Graduation program in Bangladesh. Graduation is an evidence-based, scalable intervention proven to break the poverty trap for the long term. To help eradicate extreme poverty, BRAC UPGI is working to scale globally by integrating Graduation into existing government programs and help 21 million more people lift themselves from extreme poverty by 2026. At present UPGI has interventions with governments in South Africa, Rwanda, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, and India.

 

Primary Responsibilities

      Assist in the design and implementation of data collection tools and methodologies specific to  the Graduation programming, conduct field visits to collect primary data through surveys, spot-check, interviews, and focus group discussions with program participants, manage and maintain a comprehensive database of program data, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.

      Assist in the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data to measure program outcomes and impacts, prepare data visualizations, including charts and graphs, to effectively communicate findings.

      Assist the preparation of regular reports on program progress and impact for internal and external stakeholders, assist in the development of case studies, success stories, and other documentation to showcase program achievements, ensure timely and accurate submission of MEL requirements document as per donor and organizational requirements.

      Participate in the development and refinement of MEL frameworks and plans for the Graduation programming, monitor and evaluate program activities to ensure alignment with project goals and objectives, support learning activities, including workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions, to promote best practices in MEL.

      Assist in maintaining MEL documentation and records, including data entry and filing, provide administrative support to the MEL team and program staff as needed.

Other (Safeguarding Responsibilities)

●   Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation to achieve the program’s goals of safeguarding implementation.

●   Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action. 

●   Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, and encourage others to do so. 

 

Qualifications

      Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, statistics, economics, development studies, or a related discipline.

      Minimum of 3 years of experience in monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, or a related field, preferably within development programs focused on poverty alleviation or livelihoods.

      Experience with data collection and analysis tools such as Excel or other statistical software.

      Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

      Proficiency in data management and analysis

      Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

      Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

      Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

      Knowledge of MEL frameworks and methodologies, especially in the context of poverty reduction program.

      Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

      Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse teams and communities.
